Pattern of Targeted Attacks

Since the start of the extensive conflict in Ukraine, a number of Russian military commanders have been attacked within Moscow.

This latest event echoes other notable incidents, such as:

  • General Yaroslav Moskalik was died in a car bomb attack in Moscow earlier this year.
  • General Igor Kirillov was killed in late 2024 when a bomb hidden on a scooter was triggered from afar.

While a Ukrainian source previously linked Kirillov's death to Ukraine's security service, such assertions are rarely formally acknowledged as a matter of standard practice.

Hostilities has been marked by clandestine operations reaching into the center of the Russian capital.

The investigation into General Sarvarov's death remains ongoing.
