American-Palestinian Adolescent Freed Following Nine-Month Period in Israel's Custody

An American-Palestinian teenager who spent 270 days in Israeli detention without being charged gained freedom.

The teenager Mohammed Ibrahim was 15 during his detention last February throughout the West Bank territory, during a family visit on holiday from Florida under suspicion of rock throwing against settlement residents, allegations he repeatedly contested.

American diplomatic officials said it welcomed the teenager's freedom.

Mohammed, now 16, required hospitalization for treatment immediately after release, family members reported.

They said he is pale, underweight, and is suffering from conditions developed during imprisonment.

Via family representatives, Mohammed's uncle expressed the family's "immense relief".

The uncle, Zeyad Kadur described how relatives endured "enduring a dreadful, continuous nightmare" during the entire detention period.

"Currently, we're concentrating on providing Mohammed with urgent medical care he needs after experiencing harsh conditions and brutal treatment throughout his detention."

US officials stated they would maintain to provide consular support for the Ibrahim family.

{"American leadership has no higher priority to ensuring the safety of American nationals"," the department emphasized.

Several congressional representatives submitted a formal letter to US authorities and the administration, demanding more be done for his freedom.

The father, a father-of-four operating an ice cream shop based in Tampa, previously said his child admitted guilt to throwing stones due to physical abuse.

The father hadn't visited or spoken to Mohammed following the detention, learning information solely about his son's condition in detention through court documents.

He stayed lacking indictment within Ofer penitentiary throughout the occupied territory.

It is also home to adult prisoners, some of whom have been convicted regarding severe security violations and murder.

Approximately several hundred young Palestinian detainees detained within Israeli facilities, based on prison authority data.

Several lack formal charges and human rights groups, including UN bodies, say some have suffered mistreatment and torture.

Following Mohammed's release, family representatives announced relatives would persist in advocating seeking justice for their relative their cousin Sayfollah.

The 20-year-old dual US citizen who the Palestinian health ministry said was beaten to death by settlement residents amid clashes last July.

Initially, the Israeli military said they were examining accounts of a Palestinian was deceased.

Both young men collaborated within the family's frozen treats establishment from Tampa.

No indictments occurred with Sayfollah's killing.

"We demand the American government to safeguard our relatives," family representatives emphasized.
