Raducanu reached the third round in three out of four major tournaments during the season.

Emma Raducanu from Great Britain has withdrawn from her final two events of the year due to the illness that has affected her over the past 10 days.

Raducanu, aged 22 had planned to participate in tournaments in Tokyo and Hong Kong but has decided to fly home to rest and recuperate before starting her preparations for 2026.

Her upcoming training will include coach Francisco Roig, as they have decided to continue collaborating again next season.

The tennis professional required blood pressure checks in her opening round versus Ann Li in Wuhan last week and stopped playing when losing 6-1 4-1 on a very muggy occasion.

Another medical visit was necessary a visit from the doctor at this week's Ningbo Open, where she fell in a three-set match to Zhu Lin, a Chinese wildcard in the first round.

Her movement was with clear difficulty in the final set against Zhu owing to back discomfort that has troubled her during parts of the season.

Those results meant an encouraging season, in which Raducanu rose into the top 30 globally for the first time since her previous ranking, ended with three successive defeats.

The athlete was close to victory with three match points before losing to Pegula in the third stage in the Beijing tournament last month.

She secured twenty-eight matches during 2025 and reached the semi-finals in the Washington tournament, but the highlight of her season was at March's Miami Open.

Ranked first in Britain made the last eight of a premier WTA event, beating eighth seed Emma Navarro during the tournament prior to a loss in three sets to the world number four Pegula.

She was coached by trainer Mark Petchey from the Miami event through Wimbledon, with Roig taking over ahead of the US Open.

The first plan with Rafael Nadal's former coach was for the remainder of the year but they will keep working together, with a training block pencilled in for the end of the year.

Raducanu told that a three-day test period with Roig post-Wimbledon was like a "covert operation" as they aimed to maintain secrecy.

She nearly succeeded to beating world number one Aryna Sabalenka at the first competition with Roig in Cincinnati in August.

Roig joined her in New York, where she advanced to round three then falling to 2022 Wimbledon champion Elena Rybakina.
