More than two weeks following the shocking loss of renowned filmmaker Rob Reiner and his partner, photographer Michele Reiner, friends and colleagues continue to honor the couple.
Writing on Instagram, actor Cary Elwes, who starred in Reiner's iconic movie *The Princess Bride*, stated he just recently felt ready to post publicly about his personal sorrow.
"Adequate time has elapsed that I can finally put my grief into words," wrote Elwes, adding that his initial encounter with Reiner created an instant bond. "As we began sharing more moments together I understood this was someone I longed to have in my life."
The actor posted never-before-seen clips from the production, remarking that he cannot recall "any day without joy".
"The film is about affection, allegiance and giving. Principles that Rob valued immensely. This is one of the many reasons he was the best person to helm it," Elwes wrote.
He also paid tribute Michele Reiner, stating: "Asserting that they were a great team would be an understatement. My heart still pangs every time I recall you." He ended with a quote from *The Princess Bride*: "Sure, death cannot stop true love but existence is agony without you."
In a separate essay, legendary director Martin Scorsese shared memories of Reiner, whom he originally knew in the 1970s.
"Immediately, I loved being with Rob. We had a innate rapport for each other. He was uproarious and sometimes bitingly funny, but he was never the kind of guy who would dominate the room," Scorsese wrote.
Scorsese highlighted Reiner's supporting role in his 2013 film *The Wolf of Wall Street*, portraying the father of the protagonist.
"He could improvise with the best. He was a master at comedy, he worked wonderfully with everyone, and he grasped the personal struggle of his character," Scorsese wrote.
This week, a Los Angeles judge agreed to bar the publication of the Reiners' autopsy reports, following a petition from the local authorities.
A court order put a security hold on the investigation to restrict the public release of "any investigative information, notes, reports or photos" associated with the probe.
The relevant authority had earlier stated their deaths were the outcome of homicide, with a public database listing the cause as "wounds from an edged weapon".
After the tragedy, public personalities expressed different responses.
Former President Donald Trump posted on the matter, offering divisive claims that were widely condemned by numerous public figures.
Podcaster Joe Rogan contributed his criticism to the detractors recently. Speaking on his program, Rogan characterized the comments as "disturbing" and remarked they showed a troubling deficiency of sympathy.
Rogan finished by proposing that an adviser ought to have intervened when the impulse to weigh in on the passing was made.
