The rising star boasts considerable online presence
Kai Trump will have multiple high-profile backers as she makes her LPGA debut this Thursday.
The 18-year-old athlete, who happens to be related to a former US president, received a sponsor's invitation to compete at the Annika competition in Florida.
The former president, a passionate golfer, possesses numerous courses worldwide and frequently matches against his granddaughter.
"He's quite skilled. I shouldn't elaborate but we play some close matches," she revealed.
Kai explained that Trump, who won't be present, advised her: "Just avoid anxiety."
"My grandpa basically advised me to play and relax," she explained.
"From my perspective, he's just a regular grandfather. He can't make it this weekend. He's focused on world affairs, so he's quite busy."
While still amateur, Kai has competed in only three events recently and holds position 461 in AJGA rankings.
But she's able to receive tips from Tiger Woods, who is dating Vanessa.
"He stands as the best player globally," the young golfer said.
"And he's an even better person. He advised me to play, have fun, and go with whatever happens."
Kai will face several the biggest names in women's golf at the competition, including world number two the champion, England's Charley Hull, professional Thompson and last year's winner Lilia Vu.
Officials mentioned that Kai's presence helps introduce golf to wider groups, especially among the next generation.
Kai boasts substantial online presence and just introduced an exclusive clothing and lifestyle label.
She begins at late afternoon GMT.
