This Swine Life: Pig Named 6-7 Pardoned by Miami-Dade Leader.

Although not quite at the identical stature as pardoning holiday birds, but the Miami-Dade County mayor experienced a Donald Trump moment this week by ceremoniously saving the life of a swine named Six Seven.

Daniella Levine Cava executed the holiday gesture at the Cuban-style Latin Cafe 2000 in the center of Miami’s Little Havana neighborhood.

“This pig is innocent. She is worthy of this pardon. Her criminal record is spotless,” Levine Cava said in a speech with obvious nods to the extraordinary and sizable number of pardons issued from the start of the commencement of a second term in office.

“Except perhaps for eating six or seven apples per day,” she went on. “May this pig enjoy a long and happy life away from worry.”

The gathering, simultaneously observing and challenging the area's customary feast of consuming swine during the holidays, was created to emulate the annual turkey pardoning at the White House.

The swine, contributed by a first responder, was given its name from the current slang trend of young people yelling “6-7” – inspired by a rap song lyric – often seemingly at random. The craze became so ubiquitous that a leading lexicon site recently named “6-7” its top term for the year.

A Future Secured

Six Seven the pig is now scheduled to spend its days at a farm sanctuary “far from charcoal and roasting pans”, according to the organizers' announcement.

“This swine clemency has become a beloved tradition to kick off the festive period,” said Eric Castellanos, in a decidedly positive message.

“It captures the essence of Miami: joyful, varied, and based in heritage that unite the community. Every time, we are honored to observe heritage and mercy in a way only Miami can.”

Guests enjoyed a plant-based fare of spinach croquetas and strong coffee as they toasted the pig's pardon.
