Triple Most Valuable Player Nikola Jokic suffers a 'devastating' knee injury.

The star center in action
The Denver Nuggets star won the league's Most Valuable Player title in 2021, 2022 and 2024.

Thrice-crowned National Basketball Association MVP Nikola Jokic suffered a "devastating" injury to his knee when the Nuggets lost 147-123 at the Heat.

The star player sustained the injury late in the first half during an inadvertent contact with team-mate Jones.

The other player landed on the footwear of the big man, who instantly went down to the floor clutching his leg.

The 30-year-old, that leads the NBA this season in boards and dimes, posted a score of 21 points and eight assists in the contest prior to sustaining the problem.

Jokic is scheduled for an scan on the following day to determine the severity of the injury.

"Instantly, Jokic understood there was a problem," commented Denver coach Adelman.

"This is part of the NBA. Any player that gets hurt, it's gut-wrenching, particularly somebody as special as him. We'll find out more tomorrow."

"We will continue as a team. Of course, currently, I am more worried just about him as a person and the letdown of facing a situation of that nature."
