Two-time heavyweight champion Joshua Released from Hospital in Lagos Following Fatal Car Crash

Former heavyweight champion Anthony Joshua has left the medical facility, Nigerian authorities announced on late Wednesday. The 36-year-old was involved in a car accident near Lagos on the 29th of December, a horrific crash that claimed the lives of two of his team members.

Under Observation for Minor Injuries

The boxer had been receiving medical attention while recovering from minor injuries, representatives stated earlier on Monday. A government official, Gbenga Omotoso, announced via a post online that Joshua was judged healthy enough to “recuperate at home”.

“Joshua and his mother were at the funeral home in Lagos this afternoon to pay their final respects to his two friends who passed away as they were being prepared for repatriation,” the commissioner stated.

A Tribute to the Fallen

Those who lost their lives were identified as Latif Ayodele, a personal trainer, and Sina Ghami, a strength and conditioning coach. Omotoso added that the athlete was heartbroken and overcome with emotion over the passing of his two dear friends.”

The news of his discharge follows the boxing community shared its support for the fighter in the following the devastating accident.
